CWA BARGAINING UPDATE ENVOY AIR July 1, 2016

On June 29th and 30th your bargaining committee met with the Envoy bargaining committee. Colin Yates, an alternate, filled in on the bargaining team this session. The meeting started with the company presenting counter proposals on Grievance Procedure and System Board of Adjustment. Later in the day the Company presented a Maintenance of Membership counter proposal. CWA presented a counter proposal on the interim grievance procedure. We discussed all the articles proposed but focused on the Interim Grievance Procedure. The second day we were able to reach an agreement on the Interim Grievance Procedure. The agreement will only be in effect until we reach a ratified contract. The agreement goes beyond the Company Policy in effect now as it includes a Union Representative if requested in an Initial Meeting, Investigation and Grievance meeting. The Union representative will not lose any pay when in a meeting with the company and will be able to make statements and ask questions. The procedure will cover grievances concerning discipline, discharge or issues directly affecting an employee’s compensation. The procedure will not have all the protections of the grievance procedure for the contract but will give employees a way to have a voice and correct problems that are occurring before we have a contract. The procedure will be effective on August 1st. Any violation must occur after August 1st to be grieved. Information will be released soon to recruit and train Union stewards. Next Bargaining dates are July 27th and July 28th.
